Dr. Ankur Johri earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) with Honors at the highly reputed University of Toronto in 2003. In 2009, he obtained his medical degree (M.D.) from the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Johri finished his Surgical residency at the prestigious Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) program at the University of Connecticut. In addition, Dr. Johri has also completed 2 years of General Surgery training and 4 months of Anesthesia training. Dr. Johri is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Johri has lectured on various topics at society meetings to fellow OMS colleagues as well as taught dental and medical students via lectures and hands-on surgical cadaver anatomy courses. He gives lectures to residents at Lehigh Valley Hospital on various Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery topics and was given the Teacher of the Year award in 2015. Furthermore, he has been involved with Synthes as a guest lecturer to give presentations and hands-on cadaver sessions for treatment of complex facial fractures.
Dr. Johri has an unrestricted anesthesia permit from the State of Pennsylvania that allows him to perform General anesthesia in the office. He is also ACLS, PALS and CPR certified.
Dr. Johri has particular interest in facial trauma, jaw correction surgery, dental implants and facial cosmetic surgery. He also uses the latest CT guided technology to place dental implants in challenging cases, using a custom made stent that is milled specifically for the patient from Nobel Biocare. This makes implant placement very accurate and predictable with minimal morbidity.
Dr. Johri is actively involved in taking call for facial trauma and oral-facial infections at Lehigh Valley Hospital which is a Level 1 trauma center.
Dr. Johri is a member of several professional organizations including AAOMS, PSOMS, PDA and ADA, FACS.
Dr. Johri is a peer journal reviewer for the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also authored a chapter on infections in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America.
Dr. Johri’s personal interests include traveling, listening to music and working out.
