David Bender, DMDDr Bender did his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base California. This military based program has a strong emphasis in orthognathic, dental implant and cosmetic facial surgery. Having developed a strong desire to pursue further education in facial cosmetic surgery, Dr Bender received Air Force sponsorship to participate in a civilian fellowship program. He was accepted to the Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Schools of Dentistry and Medicine. There he was mentored by Steven J Prstojevich MD DDS. Dr Bender was also responsible for staffing residents at Kansas Citys only Level One Trauma Center. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr Bender was asked to return to David Grant Medical Center to be an instructor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He trained ten residents during his tenure there, with a primary focus on facial cosmetic surgery. In Jan 2005, Dr (Lt. Col) Bender was deployed to Balad Air Base, Iraq for four months. There he utilized his expertise in facial trauma and reconstructive surgery to care for American and coalition forces. Dr Bender is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is also an ACLS instructor. Dr Bender has been granted hospital privileges to perform facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. |
