Eyelid LiftCosmetic issues around the eyes can easily be fixed with a process called blepharoplasty. Using this process, we can get rid of sagging eyelids, folds around the eyes and bags beneath the eyes. We do this by removing excess skin and fat around the eyelids. This surgery is commonly performed in conjunction with similar cosmetic procedures such as an eyebrow lift, face lift or forehead lift. Pre-Operative PreparationBefore the surgery we will have an in-depth discussion with you about your goals and any concerns about the procedure. Then we will take a few pictures of your face so we have a basis for comparison. We will also digitally manipulate the pictures to give you an idea of how you will look once the procedure is finished. We will ask you for a list of any medications you take and any allergies you have. This along with a checklist of your medical history will ensure a safe surgery. An antibiotic will be prescribed to you before the surgery to ensure the risk of infection is reduced. The ProcedureThis procedure can be done using either general sedation or IV sedation. We want you to be comfortable and will offer any accommodation to make that possible. Blepharoplasty is done by first tracing the natural creases and lines of the face and eyelids. We then make incisions within the creases of the eyelid, remove any fat or excess skin from the area and suture the incision closed. Because this procedure is performed so close to the eye, we often apply a special ointment and dressing to help keep the site from drying out. Post-Operative InformationDrying of the eyes and the area around the eyes is sometimes a problem after blepharoplasty. We will discuss this with you before you leave our office, and may give you a prescription for medication to help alleviate any dryness that may occur. Sensitivity to wind, cold and light have also been known to occur after this procedure. Please give our office a call at (610) 435-6161 to schedule a no obligation consultation. |
